Unfortunately network marketers often spend a lot of time trying to convince people who haven’t expressed an interest, and that can be incredibly frustrating for everyone. If Uncle Bob tells you he isn’t interested why would you WANT to drag him kicking and screaming into a meeting? You don’t want to drag anybody into this thing.

You don’t really want to invest any time, effort, or money into someone until they tell you they are interested. If you try to drag people into this thing, you’re going to drain your battery and waste your time. Do yourself a favor and free yourself up to find someone who IS interested. Believe me there are tons of people out there praying for what you have to offer. Spend your precious time finding THOSE people.

The Goal of your Lead Generation System

Your lead generation system has only 1 goal, to get people to say “I want more information”. Until someone says they are interested, then they are not really a prospect. Whether you are generating your leads online, working with leads you’ve purchased, or making a names list and calling people you know, you only want to work with people who are interested.

How Lead Generation Works Using a Names List

If you have been in network marketing your upline and many others have probably told you to make up a list of everyone you know. If you’re using a names list, typically you and your sponsor call the people on your list together. You’ll give them something short like a 30 second commercial, and then you’ll just ask them if they’d like to know more. Most people will probably say “No”, and that’s really ok.

How Lead Generation Works Online

In the online world, people will be reading something that gives them a little information, and then they will click a link to visit your site or they will “opt-in” for more information. When someone clicks the link or they “opt-in”, then you know they are interested in learning more. It doesn’t mean they are highly qualified yet, it just means they are willing to take the next step with you, to find out more.

After someone tells you they want some more information then you’ll plug them into your prospecting/recruiting system where they can be educated about what your company has to offer.

Do you find it hard to talk to prospects on the phone, getting hung up on, or handling objections?I used to be like that, constantly taking the prospects that I would generate on the internet and vomit my business opportunity to them. Time after time, I would basically get laughed at followed by an immediate “Click”.I just couldn’t figure it out. What was I doing wrong? There were so many people out there that were effortlessly sponsoring people.Network marketing is highly lucrative when you do things right. Before I get into the 3 simple steps I’d like to cover some very beneficial topics first regarding your business. Most people get the idea that if they have a great company with a great compensation plan and awesome products that they need to go out there and either talk about the company or the products. Wrong!Again & again, people want to know the benefits of your opportunity “If” they are interested in the first place.”Can this make me money?”"How much can I make?”"What can I do with the product?”"What will the product do for me?”If you can’t exercise even the basic principles I’m talking about, your lead generation efforts whether they be big or small, won’t have any lasting value because you can’t talk to your prospects correctly.Another surpriser…Your business has nothing to do with your company. I don’t care how revolutionary your comp. plan is, how life changing your products are, it doesn’t matter. What matters is how you market your opportunity.Your business is MARKETING!When looking at the top income earners for any specific company, you find out that what they did to create that level of success was market their business properly. They didn’t go out there and pitch it to everyone they saw or play the “my company is better than yours” game, day in and day out.Network marketing done right means you don’t have to sell, you don’t have to ask people to join your business, they ask you! You don’t have to post fliers, hold meetings, talk to random people off the street or spam people. I wasn’t getting anywhere with my business, basically sponsoring one or two every now and then. Sad part was they were doing the same thing since their upline (me) couldn’t give them beneficial information to get them going.I now sort in my lead generation efforts with who is good for it and simply who is not.Basically think of it as if you were the manager interviewing to hire a new employee. Do you want someone who is negative and has no real goals or do you want someone is positive, passionate about what they pursue and has a plan of what they want to do?By changing the way that I approach the conversation and the attitude that I have in the conversation, I am now not getting hung up on. I am sponsoring more than ever. (execute)Prospects are actually thanking me for the conversations that we have and I no longer look at leads like “Boy, here we go again.”What matters the most is what we say and how we say it to our prospects.Sponsoring and talking to prospects doesn’t have to be hard, frustrating, or filled with rejection.All you need to know is how to do it the right way and the fun way.There’s many resources out there and the best way is to invest in becoming a better, more effective communicator.

We use up a lot of our time doing various things. Truth is a lot of that time we spend doing one thing, could have been spent doing something much more beneficial in our network marketing business.It’s always been this way and I don’t think it’s going to change any time soon but we have 24 hours in a day.Most do not realize the amount of time we waste doing petty things that could have been used in our lead generation efforts for example. Now if you were told that you can get rich quick in network marketing, you were told wrong.If quick is a couple months time I guess so but that rarely ever happens unless you are someone who took massive action and had all the necessary knowledge to do so ahead of time.To get any serious results in our home based business we’ve got to put in sufficient time. The more time and effort we put in while keeping a positive attitude, the better our results and the more leads we’ll convert into reps.For serious results to happen, it’s best to spend at least 2-3 hours/day on your business opportunity. Even with working a J.O.B it’s still possible to put in this amount of time.Do you REALLY want stuck there forever?Probably not….If you’re not committing at least this much time, you won’t see the type of results you’re looking to generate. Most people meet this commitment so that’s not always a problem but HOW are you using your time?I realize how difficult it can be at times to work on your business, generating leads and straight up call your prospects but it’s going to have to be done if you want to make thousands, tens of thousands, especially hundreds of thousands of dollars per month.Like Nike says…JUST DO IT! Don’t hesitate, twiddle your thumbs, make up excuses not to do it, Just do it!Another big area where we don’t use our time efficiently is talking to or with the wrong people. You should be constantly qualifying leads to see if they deserve your time. Stay far, far away from tire kickers.If you so much as bring one tire kicker in, a whiner, complainer, negative mindset person into your home based business, your time spent bringing in qualified prospects is going to go down the drain. Whenever in a situation with a person like that, end the call or message in a polite manner ASAP.Some may keep bothering you so you may have to ignore them. You can always refer them to somebody or something else that can possibly help them.Get rid of the emotional attachment to people who aren’t on your team. To most it sounds mean but you’ve got much better things to do like make money and help “qualified” people do the same!Just by taking little notices in your network marketing business, you can free up a lot of time that would have been wasted and use it towards your leads generation and talking with qualified leads ready to be a part of your business.We’ll always have 24 hours in a day and will get no more time than that.Work with the time you do have and use it more efficiently.
